This has been a such great year for us and we continue to be pleased and proud of our achievements. Comments and feedback from our audiences have been very positive. This year’s biggest change has been the introduction of our ‘NT Live’ and ‘Encore’ performances. This has meant more dates in our calendar. I would like to thank all our volunteers, who have risen to this challenge, and given their time so willingly.
We have put on 36 performances, including 7 NT Live and Encore. Staged 2 events, ‘Suffragette’ and ‘The Audience’ street party. We have been able to provide, celebratory drinks for our launch, ‘Firelight’, Marmalade sandwiches for ‘Paddington’, a range of sweets and chocolates for our matinee performances. It is our intention to have at least one event per season, for the enjoyment of you, our loyal audiences. These may be topical or related to the film.
For International Women’s Day we showed ‘Suffragette’, we were entertained by Seaford Pop up singers, who sang the marching songs of these brave women.
Our biggest ‘event’ was for ‘The Audience’ and to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday. At our street party we had traditional English refreshments, cucumber sandwiches, scones with cream and jam and great homemade cakes. We decorated the car park, foyer and auditorium and had guests of honour, Marilyn, who has just been awarded the British Empire Medal for her services to the community. Our ‘Queen of the Day’ was the sprightly, Jean Green a soon to be 96-year-old who fulfilled her role with grace and gusto! Yet again the Pop Up singers gave their all, and so did the lovely Julie Terry from ‘Julie’s Art of Noise’, from the Barn Theatre. A sherry toast to the queen and a rousing three cheers preceded the show.
Once again I would like to thank the great team of volunteers who make my role easier and enjoyable. If any of you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please leave your details and I will contact you asap.
