Samantha Reich and Deborah Espect join us to talk about film-making and various jobs in film-making.
Deborah Espect is a writer, director and producer based in Brighton, UK. Her short films and web series have been shown in over 30 international film festivals, including the Festival de Cannes Short Films Corner, Canadian Diversity Film Festival, New Filmmakers New York and Accolade, and have received a number of awards. Deborah has a new TV show, “Shorts Out!”, which will begin on Thursday 5th July on Latest TV at 9pm and where she will be introducing LGTBQ+ short films, documentaries and animations which she has also selected.
Samantha Reich is a young American filmmaker and activist. She is a recent graduate with a BA in International Journalism and Media with a specialization in Sociology from Richmond University in London. From Texas originally, she has independently traveled to 43 countries, including time spent living and studying in New Zealand and the UK. Her most recent narrative film, Alma (2018), was shot in a remote village in Georgia with local actors.
We will be screening the short film, The Wider Sun, directed by Sophia Carr-Gomm at the end of this session.
